Being a big fan of Brian Lumley and T.M. Wright, Nightmare City tickled my fancy. Lots of monsters, some sexy stuff, psychic battles, and plenty of page turning events to keep the reader's attention span from fizzing out. There's a lot of characters, which may challenge some readers to keep stock of them, but it's done in a way that helps keep the book chugging along. I enjoyed the mental battle between three brothers. Good stuff here.
One word describes this novel to a T wow. A non-stop roller coaster ride of pure horror from beginning to end, The novel starts off moving fast and never slows down, making this a very intense story. The story flows well, and the characters are extremely well developed. This is a very exciting read for anyone who loves the horror genre.

"Nightmare City" by Maynard Sims is a page turner, with plenty of supernatural thrills and action. The authors do a fine job of filling in the back-story of all the secondary characters--the ones Robert "calls"--and set up some great scenes of supernatural warfare, including a spectacular finale. This is a solid supernatural thriller well worth reading.

I saw this book had some low rankings and I wasn't sure since none of the rankings included reviews as to why it was given so few stars. Every writer has a different flow and style of writing and sometimes you have to adapt to it in order to truly appreciate the story. I feel like I found the rhythm for this story though and once I immersed myself in it, I enjoyed the unusual take on horror, the psychic battle of minds. A lot of the imagery was very vivid and plays on many common fears people have and some that were fears you didn't know you had until you read it. The ending was a tad anticlimactic, but overall it was a good read.
